Shahir Guindi

Shahir is the managing partner of the Montréal office in the firm’s Business Law Department, and formerly a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. Shahir’s practice focuses mainly on mergers and acquisitions, equity and debt financings, including for technology and life sciences companies, and strategies for high-growth companies.

In 2008, Shahir acted on several mergers and acquisitions including Oz Communications in its sale to Nokia Corporation, YottaYotta in its sale to EMC Corporation, Jubilant Organosys in its acquisition of Draxis Health, and Radialpoint it its financing by TA Associates.

Shahir also acts for many private equity funds in their portfolio investments and divestitures and has expertise in cross-border private equity fund formation. He acts for investment banks in connection with corporate finance transactions, including acting for the underwriters in the initial public offering of Miranda Technologies Inc., one of Canada’s largest technology company IPOs.

Shahir was named one of “Canada’s Top 40 Lawyers 40 and Under” in the November/December 2004 issue of Lexpert magazine. He is ranked as a leading practitioner in 4 categories, including private equity, in the Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory, and is ranked in both Best Lawyers and the Martindale directory.
